World of Outlaws statement on the passing o Earl Baltes
The World of Outlaws and DIRTcar Racing are saddened to learn today of Earl Baltes’ passing. Earl grew Eldora Speedway out of the fields of western Ohio into one of racing’s premier venues. He took a chance on Ted Johnson and the World of Outlaws in its inaugural 1978 season and the sprint car series has returned to Eldora every year since, helping it to become the premier dirt racing series in the world.

ELDORA ICON TO CROWN 28th KING
When it comes to describing not only the Kings Royal, but Eldora Speedway in general, there are two words that do it best – Earl Baltes. The legendary Baltes, with absolutely no background in the auto racing business, carved a dirt oval out of one his cornfields in the Fall of 1953 and then in June of 1954 presented his first race.
