The heat races were incredible all night at the first night of the Eldora doubleheader. In particular the third sprint car heat race that featured a spirited dual with J.J. Yeley, Bill Rose, Tony Jones, and Tyler Walker. This quartet of drivers raced three, and for a couple of laps four wide all around the Eldora ½-mile oval. […]
The great fans of Fremont, Ohio will be getting a taste of something different on Wednesday (weather permitting) when non-wing sprint cars invade the 1/3-mile fairgrounds oval. […]
Boston Reid thrilled the crowd in his hometown of Kokomo, Indiana Sunday night by winning the GLOSS sprint car feature at the Kokomo Speedway. Boston, who graduated June 8th from High School, was still on cloud nine Monday about the big win. […]
During my 23 years of race chasing and the past 6 seasons of doing TJ Slideways.com (has it really been that long?) I have been to some of the biggest open wheel events in the world. Some are still going strong such at the Kings Royal, the Amoco Knoxville Nationals, Ohio Speedweek, and the 4-Crown Nationals. […]
The Gumout Series got a bit of bad news and a bit of good news on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway concerning who would be chasing the 2001 title. Saturday the Guy Forbrook team with Jeff Shepard secured funding to stay on the road with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws. No word on who the sponsor will be. […]
36 Pennzoil World of Outlaws machines and 25 Ohio Lottery NRA 360 sprint car machines checked in for Friday night’s show. […]
What a difference a week makes. Last weekend saw myself and a guest freeze at Attica through a tremendous feature, warm up slightly only to have it rain before the heat races at Eldora, and then see snow on the way home when we should have been seeing a double dip with USAC Worldcom National midgets and Stoops/Freightliner Sprint Cars. The Anderson event was rescheduled for one week later, and at the last moment Mudclodbob, Patrick Poor, and myself hopped in the car and headed down to the Glen Niebel Classic. […]
As always there was some information I couldn’t quite squeeze into my notes column, so I saved a little bit of info on the weekend action at Attica. […]
I just got back from the “Parade of Champions” in Lansing for the Michigan State Spartans National Championship Basketball game. It seems as if MSU has made Florida kind of its whipping boy after the Citrus Bowl and now winning the National Championship over the Gators. I’m almost sure MSU could take them in Ice Hockey as well! Great job State, and thankfully no discount store couches burned in the celebration this time around! […]
Most of the Midwest has little or no rain all spring and summer, and just when it’s time for the U.S. Nationals at the Terre Haute Action Track Mother Nature cuts loose with heavy rain. Several campers reported seeing people starting pair of all the species of animals in the area. Okay, maybe it wasn’t that bad. I still think though the facility earned the name “Terre Float Actionless Track” for the weekend. No word yet on a possible rescheduling of the ASCS Outlaws and Non-Wing sprints for this year, but I have my doubts if that will happen. […]
During the Amoco Knoxville Nationals Ted Johnson announced that the Pennzoil World of Outlaws were going to start their own support series. No matter how anyone tries to sugar coat it, the series is going to be based on the home turf of the All Star Circuit of Champions run by Bert Emick and is rest of the All Star Board of Directors. Since both series look to be racing during the 2000 season , and it appears they will be butting heads. So I decided to weigh all of the options in the only fair way to compare the two series, with a little match race. […]
The alarm clock rings at 6:00 a.m. on race day morning, and the weather forecast calls for a slight chance of scattered thunderstorms. Always the optimist, I blow the report off and start upstairs to get ready to head to the track. An hour later after packing all my computer gear back up I head to the speedway. […]
The weather was the top story all weekend at the first annual Michigan Fast Track Challenge at the New 96 Speedway with rain and near record temperatures and humidity for all three days. […]
This past weekend the Bob, Rod, Todd crew and company celebrated the fourth season of the TJ Slideways Midwest Sprint Car Racing Page by taking in four races featuring six of the divisions that have made this page worth reading on a regular basis. From midgets on pavement to the World of Outlaws, we pretty much saw everything we cover here on the Slideways page. […]
