A potential second place finish on the podium at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR) last Saturday night amounted to nothing for Danny Reidy due to suffering steering failure during the closing stages of feature race.
Reidy battled for second place with local Glen Saville in the latter stages of the feature race when the steering aboard his NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs sponsored J&J failed as he entered turn three and it consequently sent him crashing into the wall and out of the running.
“There wasn’t much I could do about it, as I was going down the back straight and then I turned into the corner and the steering locked up and that cause the car to have a big push and then I was off into the wall,” recalled Reidy who had started the feature race from position five in the field. “I felt confident that we had a good enough car to finish in second place but my steering had other ideas.”
With eight laps remaining Reidy had held down the lead and for a handful of laps after that he fought with eventual winner and good friend Robbie Farr for the lead.
“I gave Bob [Robbie Farr] all I had for a few laps there but eventually he got by me and pulled away,” Reidy said. “I was content to stay in second place and had I stayed there it would have been my third podium finish in four race meetings at TPCR. I have enjoyed a really good run at TPCR in recent times and in the past it had been a track that I had struggled with.”
Reidy started the night in strong fashion by qualifying second in time trials and then winning his opening heat race and placing fifth in his second heat.
This Saturday night (November 7) for the fourth round of the Queensland Speedway Spares Series Reidy will make a return to Brisbane International Speedway (BIS). This will be the first time he has visited BIS this season.
“I need to get in some track time in around BIS before the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship opener later this month and this is going to be my last opportunity to do so,” commented Reidy.
Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs and Baines Engines for all their ongoing support.
