If the performance of Danny Reidy last Saturday night at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR) during the third round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship is any indication than a maiden WSS round victory isn’t too far away.

A second place finish behind American import Jason Johnson was one of Reidy’s best ever WSS results but it was disappointing at the same time. After he had started from pole position Reidy paced the field for 23 of 30 laps only to be out driven by Johnson during the closing stages.

“I nearly pulled off our first WSS round win but in the end just couldn’t get the job done,” remarked Reidy. “There was very little between Jason [Johnson] and I during the feature race as we both had similar speed. However, he managed to get a run on me in one of the turns and take control of the lead and carry that advantage all the way through to the finish.”

Aside from his second place finish on the podium the highlight for Reidy was his charge during the ‘Top 8’ pole shootout. Reidy went into the event as sixth on points and progressed forward in the time trial format to earn a pole position start for the feature race.

“The pole shootout really worked in my favour and PCR is the type of track where you needed to start towards the front,” Reidy commented. “In between the pole shootout and the feature race we didn’t change much as we were happy with the car setup.”

Reidy started the night by qualifying third out of the 55 car field in time trials and then placed eighth in both of his heat races.

Latest WSS Point Standings (after three completed rounds):

1 Brooke Tatnell – 422 points

2 Max Dumesny – 420

3 Robbie Farr – 418

4 Danny Reidy – 412

5 Ryan Farrell – 396

This Saturday night (December 12) Reidy will return to PCR where he will contest the latest round of their track championship.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs, Baines Engines, Gonzo Racing Pipes, Camden Neon Signs and P & M Motor Body Repairs for all their ongoing support in the 09/10 season.
