The Americans have continued their remarkable run of race wins at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) this summer with Bud Kaeding winning his second event inside six days at the venue last night and he now joins World Of Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz as the two drivers who will be chasing a hat-trick of wins when they take to the track again this Friday and Saturday night.
Kaeding’s victory in the $10,000 to win Capalaba Wreckers Sprintcar Cup, coupled with his win in the International Sprintcar Series event on January 1, has provided him with an opportunity to further continue his perfect record in 2010 and make his current tour of Australia clearly his most successful one ever. The three-time and reigning USAC Silver Crown Champion will firm considerably in the odds ahead of the event and on the back of his performance on Wednesday night, he will start as one of the hot favourites in Saturday night’s fifty lap, $20,000 to win Titan Garages Australian Sprintcar Open.
Schatz meanwhile is the defending and two-time winner of the Open and is seeking an unprecedented third win in Qld’s richest Sprintcar event. Schatz’s victory in the 2009 edition of the event was simply stunning and it will long be remembered as one of the greatest drives in the history of Australian Sprintcar racing. Schatz absolutely shattered the fifty lap track record at BIS – a mark many believe may never be broken – and lapped the entire field on his way to victory in the non-stop event that left many seasoned racers and observers shaking their head in disbelief at what they had just witnessed.
A world-class field of close to forty drivers is assembling for this weekend’s two night Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship / Titan Garages Australian Sprintcar Open, including seven Americans and the cream of Australian Sprintcar racing’s stars.
The nominations for this marquee event on the Qld Speedway calendar are: Andrew Scheuerle, Andrew Wright, Anthony Lambert, Brent Kaeding (USA), Brett Thomas, Brooke Tatnell, Bryan Mann, Bud Kaeding (USA), Cameron Gessner, Dan Murray, Danny Reidy, Danny Smith (USA), Darrell Hodges, David Muir, David Murcott, Donny Schatz (USA), Garry Brazier (Aust. 1), Grant Anderson, James McFadden, Jason Bottin, Jason Johnson (USA), Jason Kendrick, Jesse Hockett (USA), Jason Sides (USA), Jeremy Cross, Kerry Madsen, Max Dumesny, Murray Gibson, Paul Morris, Peter Lack, Peter Thorley, Richard Morgan, Ricky Mitchell, Robbie Farr, Ryan Farrell, Steve Caunt, Todd Wanless, Wayne Rowett.
