BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Veteran Indiana sprint car driver Jon Stanbrough used his experience and a great restart to win the 30-lap Grimes Pool and Spas Sprint Car race Friday night, April 30, at Bloomington Speedway.

Stanbrough started sixth in the feature race and quickly moved into fourth where he stayed until a stalled car in turn two brought out the caution flag on the last lap. That stalled car was the break Stanbrough needed. Third-place runner Danny Holtsclaw, from Bloomington, was collected by the stalled car, moving Stanbrough into third place.

Trailing leader Hunter Schuerenberg and Dickie Gaines on the restart, Stanbrough chose a low line to sneak past Gaines in turn one and then rocket by Schuerenberg exiting turn two. Following Stanbrough across the finish line were Schuerenberg (2nd), Tracy Hines (3rd), Gaines (4th) and Jeff Bland, Jr. (5th).

Brad Cummings won the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stock race and Clint Demoss won the O’Neal Wood Products UMP Modified Race.

The next night of racing at Bloomington Speedway is the Larry Rice Classic, part of the Indiana Stoneworks Night on Friday, May 7. The United States Auto Club Sprint Cars will be the main event and will be joined by the Midwest Mini-Sprint Association Mini Sprints. Gates open at 5:30, and general admission tickets are $20 with children 12 and under FREE with a paying adult.
