Fremont Speedway cancels May 8 racing

FREMONT, Ohio – Heavy thunderstorms that struck the Fremont area Friday night, coupled with rains Saturday morning and cold and windy conditions forced the cancellation of racing at Fremont Speedway for Underground Utilities Inc. Night, Saturday, May 8.

“We got a tremendous amount of rain in a very short period of time Friday night. That, coupled with temperatures in the 40s falling into the 30s at night and winds gusting to 40 miles per hour would make it a very uncomfortable night…it just would not be enjoyable for the fans or teams,” said Fremont Speedway Promoter Rich Farmer.

Farmer said the free coupons that were distributed to all the students in the schools in Sandusky County – Lakota, Woodmore, Gibsonburg, Fremont, Clyde and Bellevue – will still be valid at a yet-to-be-determined date.

Fremont Speedway will be back in action on Saturday, May 15, on Roots Poultry Night featuring the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and the Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks. It will also be a Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title (FAST) Championship Series night for the 410 sprints and a FAST night for the 305 sprints as well. The FAST championship series is a separate point fund and separate points kept for select races at both Fremont Speedway and Attica Raceway Park. Last season, the FAST 410 sprint championship series paid out over $60,000 in cash and contingency awards.
