(July 13, 2010) – The seventh round of Ohsweken Speedway’s Friday Night Thunder hits the track this Friday, July 16th. This week’s event is presented by Gales Auto Aftermarket and Evers Financial, and features the “Battle on the Grand” featuring the Empire Super Sprints series versus Ohsweken’s weekly Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars, plus rescheduled “Mid-Season Championship” features for ESSO Thunder Stocks, ESSO Mini Stocks, and Bombers, the return of Vintage Cars, and Kids Box Car Races!
Dave Dykstra of Port Colborne added to his lead in the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car division standings with a good run in the Northern Summer Nationals on July 2. South Dayton, NY driver Kyle Moffit moved up to second in the standings, but he’s now nineteen points behind. Alton’s Keith Dempster was shuffled to third, while Kevin Job of Campbellville is fourth, and Ohsweken’s Glenn Styres is fifth. The Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car “Mid-Season Championship” feature has been rescheduled for Friday, July 23.
Billy Bleich of Port Robinson continues to lead the ESSO Thunder Stock standings, but Caledonia’s Lee Winger and Cambridge driver Jamie Cox have been chipping away at his lead. Those two drivers are now tied for second, seventeen markers out of the lead. Jeremy Bean of Stoney Creek is fourth, followed by Grimsby’s Rob Disher in fifth.
Trevor Goulding of Welland is still at the top of the list in the ESSO Mini Stock standings, but Brantford’s Kevin Hilborn is quietly having a very consistent season and sits second, twenty-two points behind. Craig Erskine of Brantford, Caledonia’s Mike Evers, and Paris driver Steve Miller round out the top five!
Dundas driver Karl Sault got back to his winning ways in the Bomber division in the last round, and has a commanding lead in the standings. John Cote is in second place, followed by Hamilton’s Kacey Huffman, Jeremy Hughes, and Shawn Ireland, both of Burlington.
