WOODHULL, N.Y. (July 31, 2010) – Chuck Hebing noted before the night that his 2010 season, which was heavily peppered with bad luck, had him scratching his head about his car and his ability. Even though that bad luck would return later in the night, in the make-up feature, his bad luck was nowhere to be found.

Hebing, the 2006 and 2007 ASCS Patriot Champion, captured his series-high 32nd career feature win with the sun still shining as he lead all 25-laps of the feature race held over from May 22nd. It was his third career win at Woodhull, making him the first to accomplish that feat in a sprint car. Along the way, Hebing would also run the majority of laps under the former track record, with his best a 13.10 on lap four.

“This track was incredible in terms of speed,” noted Hebing in Victory Lane. “It was crazy fast out there.”

The bite in the track was evident at the start of the feature when “Cobra” lifted the front end of his Wilkins RV Ford-Powered No. 45 off the ground and drifted up the track near outside polesitter Bobby Breen. Despite the shaky start, Hebing had the field covered.

Only two cautions for single-car incidents would slow the race, with the final caution falling on lap six for a slowing Gary Troutman. The lack of stoppages would allow Hebing to lap up to fifth place.

“Cobra” would pick up his second Patriot win of the season by about a half track over Bobby Breen, who slid back to fifth on the opening circuit after a close encounter with Hebing, but would drive back up to second on a lap two restart and have a comfortable distance over third place.

The best battle on the track for the second half of the race was between veterans George Suprick and Tim Kelly, with Suprick completing a narrow slide job on the white flag lap to complete the podium. Kelly would hang on to make it all former Woodhull winners in the top-four.

Bryan Howland was able to finish in fifth to stay at the time a perfect 4/4 in top-five finishes at Woodhull.

Don Adamczyk charged from 11th to finish sixth, holding off Blake Breen on the final lap, who would cross in seventh. Jared Zimbardi slavaged an eighth place run, while teammates Dylan Swiernik and Kevin Ward Jr. completed the top-10.

Bubba Broderick was a contender early in the race, but when he spun to avoid Gary Troutman on lap six, he would cut down his right rear and would retire to the infield.

Three drivers that ran the heats back in May that did not return were Justin Barger, Ray Preston and T.J. Newton.
