Justin Carver sweeps USCS Fast Friday sprint battle at North Alabama

Tuscumbia, Alabama – August 6, 2010 – Eighteen year-old 2009 United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear Rookie of the Year, Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee drove his brand new Memphis Fence J&J Auto Racing, Dynotech powered #24 sprint car from his outside second row starting position into victory lane in the 25-lap United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour main event at North Alabama Speedway on Friday night. After battling with early race-leader, Ronny Howard from Southaven, Mississippi for the lead during the first six-laps, Carver then survived four caution periods with veteran USCS defending Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee on his rear bumper to collect the win. This completed a clean sweep of the evening’s events as, he also won the six-lap Goodyear Speed Dash and Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race. It was the young drivers second career USCS feature win. He accomplished the same feat at the same speedway on August 7, 2009 as well..

Terry Gray finished in the runner-up spot six car lengths back. Past series Champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas followed in the third position. The 2009 USCS Mid South Thunder Rookie of the Year, Jon Stinson from Memphis, Tennessee started ninth and finished in the fourth position. Another veteran and past USCS Champion, Eddie Gallagher from Piperton, Tennessee rounded out the top five after starting seventh.

Ronny Howard headed the next group in sixth place. Howard’s team-mate Raymond Stull from Coldwater, Mississippi finished in seventh place after starting, fifteenth. Rookie of the Year candidate, Jarod Roller from Olive Branch, Mississippi followed in eighth position. Veteran sprint car driver Aubrey Black from Lookout Mountain, Georgia finished ninth and Clint Weiss from Elizabethton, Kentucky rounded out the top ten drivers.

Justin Carver won the six-lap Goodyear Speed Dash. Marshall Skinner won the 10-lap Engler Machine and Tool First Heat Race. Carver also raced to victory in the Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race. Terry Gray won the FSR Racing Products Third Heat. Raymond Stull garnered the KSE Racing Products Hardcharger Award for his charge past eight cars in the main event. The Rookie of the Race honors went to Jarod Roller. The event’s K&N Filters Pole award went to Ronny Howard after high passing points earner, Terry Gray drew a six inversion place Howard in the K&N Filters Pole Position..
