Atlanta, GA – The United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear www.uscsracing.com returns to the red dirt 4/10 mile racing surface at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, North Carolina for two full nights of action on October 1st and 2nd during the USCS Carolina Thunder Nationals 2010. The two-day event is loaded with action-packed racing in six divisions featuring a full program of winged outlaw style sprint car racing each night, plus the 600cc Winged Micro Sprints and Championship racing in four of Carolina Speedway’s weekly racing divisions. The USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour winged sprint cars will contest a full racing program including the Goodyear Speed Dash, Qualifying Heat races and Main Events on both Friday and Saturday nights. The 20 lap main event on Friday night will pay $1200 to the winner. The 30-lap Carolina Thunder Nationals Championship finale on Saturday night is scheduled to pay $2000 to the Champion.

The Carolina Speedway weekly racing divisions on the program include the popular Bea’s Gift Basket Open Wheel Modifieds racing for $1000 to win their 25-lap Championship min event. The Domino’s Pizza Street Stocks and Thunder (Crate) Sportsman square off in a weekend challenge event that also pays $1000 to the winner of the event and an extra $150 to the top finishing Thunder Sportsman driver. The Tilley Harley Davidson Renegades and Q2U BBQ Pit Stock Four divisions will both race for a $500 top prize.

All qualifying races for the Open Wheel Modified, Street Stock vs. Thunder Sportsman, Renegade and Stock Four divisions will be contested on Friday, October 1st. Then, on Saturday, October 2nd the Last Chance/B-Mains and Main Event finales in each of those divisions fill the racing card. The winged 600cc Micro Sprints will also contest a complete racing program of qualifying heats and main events on both nights.

The Carolina Speedway event is expected to bring top winged outlaw sprint car drivers from at least six states to the track from as far away as Florida and Arkansas . The exotic fire breathing, alcohol burning, 700 horsepower open-wheeled USCS sprint cars weight just 1,300 pounds, and are pound for pound the World’s most powerful short track race cars. The cars will literally fly around the track surface at speeds well over 130 M.P.H. It is not uncommon to see the USCS sprint cars popping “wheelies” or doing wheel stands because of the brute force of their engines and their huge 18-inch wide Goodyear Eagle rear tires.

Carolina Speedway is located at 6335 Union Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054. The race track phone number is: (704) 869-0313. The track’s website is www.carolinaspeedway.net For USCS info visit the USCS web site at www.uscsracing.com or call the USCS presented by Goodyear at 770-460-7223.
