VENTURA SPRINT CAR SEASON FINALE THIS SATURDAY

VENTURA, CA – OCTOBER 27, 2010… This Saturday, October 30th, Jim Naylor’s Ventura Raceway will host the season finale for the VRA Sprint Car Series. Joining the powerful Sprint Cars will be the VRA Senior Sprints, Dwarf Cars, USAC Young Gun Midgets, Junior Midgets, and Mini Dwarf Cars. The Front Gates will open at 3:00pm with Racing to start at 5:30pm at “The Best Little Dirt Track In America.”

Ojai’s Troy Rutherford has already clinched the series championship. Driving the #11 Trench Shoring / State Ready Mix entry, Rutherford has five feature victories, fifteen heat race wins, and nineteen top-10 finishes. The former SCRA Sprint Car Rookie of the Year scored a thirteenth place finish last Saturday would like to end the year with a victory.

Camarillo’s Josh Ford won the All Coast Construction 360 Challenge title with his fourteenth place run. Piloting the #73 King Racing Products / A&A Precision Machining car, Ford has two feature victories, five heat race wins, and seventeen top-10 finishes. The former USAC Sprint Car Rookie of the Year will look to rebound this Saturday with a win.

Ventura’s Greg Taylor drove to a fourth place finish in the #7 Taylor Trucking & Crane Service / Four Paws Pet Grooming entry. Taylor won his eighth heat race by taking the Twister-X Heat Race #5 and has sixteen top-10 finishes on the year. The former series champion has four feature victories and would like to add another on Saturday.

Palmdale’s Rick Hendrix had a fifteenth place finish last Saturday. Driving the #15 Rick’s Gate Works Inc. / Wilwood Disc Brakes machine, Hendrix has one feature victory, seven heat race wins, and thirteen top-10 finishes in 2010. The former USAC Western Midget champion will be among the favorites this Saturday night.

Camarillo’s Brian Camarillo drove to his twelfth top-10 finish with a third place run. Piloting the #22 Agromin / Waste Management entry, Camarillo has ten heat race wins in his 2010 campaign. Brian will be looking to end the season with a feature victory on Saturday.

Among the other top contenders expected to be in action are Steve Conrad of Quartz Hill, Rialto’s Don Gansen, Camarillo’s Brent Camarillo, Buena Park’s Brody Roa, Reseda’s Justin Kierce, Brandon Thomson of Norwalk, Santa Barbara’s Marcus Niemela, and many more.
