Tough WSS Opener for Reidy

A poor run in qualifying run hampered Danny Reidy’s run during last Saturday night’s opening round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship at Brisbane International Speedway.

After he had finished qualifying time trials in 26th, Reidy was able to pick up some much needed points by winning both of his heat races and did enough to make it directly into the feature race out of position 13.

The NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported Eagle driver battled throughout the feature race towards the foot of the Top 10. Reidy had worked his way inside the Top 10 for only a handful of laps before a mistake saw him drop back and eventually finish in 11th place.

“Our bad time trial left us chasing our tails all night,” Reidy said. “We struggled a bit in the feature race to move forward and 11th was probably a result that we deserved considering the night that we had.”

Reidy is now focused on this Saturday night’s (November 27) second round of the WSS Championship at Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway and he is looking to redeem himself.

“The season is now getting in full swing and we are starting to get regular racing and that is a good thing,” he commented. “I’m hoping to start the night strongly by firstly qualifying strongly and that will then setup my night and I can then work my way towards starting at the front of the feature race.”

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their ongoing support throughout the 2010/11 season.
