The Integrity Locksmiths & Security Sprintcar Grand National on Saturday was the next event on the schedule for Craig Dollansky as he continued his 2010-11 Australia tour.
One of the big stories this season for the racing Down Under has been rain and the same was true for Saturday’s program as rain delayed the program around hot lap time but not enough to stop 40 competitors from resuming racing action. With heat races lined up by an inversion, Dollansky started sixth in the first round of heats and worked his way up to 2nd by the finish. In the second round of heats, the USA #7 started fifth and again finished 2nd. With his strong run in the heats, Dollansky was 2nd highest in points for the feature.
In the 35-lap A-Main, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ from Elk River, Minnesota started inside of row four. When the green flag flew the field got bottled up coming out of turn four and Dollansky was one of the victims as another driver got over the left rear of the USA #7 resulting in a flat tire. Forced to restart at the tail of the 24-car field, Dollansky worked his way through the pack and up to 8th by the time the checkers flew to salvage a top ten finish.
Up next for the D&B Goodyer Development team is a trip back to Avalon Raceway in Geelong, Australia on January 19th.
