Racing radio show covers Ohio motorsports

By Brian Liskai

FREMONT, Ohio – Beginning Thursday, Feb. 3, race fans in Northern and Central Ohio can keep up with the racing action from across the Buckeye state and beyond by tuning their radios to Eagle 99.1, the Wolf 92.1; or Eagle 93.7 FM for the Buckeye Speedzone.

The show will air every Thursday from 6-7 p.m. (EST) and will include interviews with drivers, promoters and all the movers and shakers of racing.

Buckeye Speedzone host Brian Liskai and co-host Scott Barman, who began a racing program on WFRO in Fremont, Ohio, nearly 12 years ago, will once again hit the airways.

Liskai, who is the track announcer and public relations director for both Fremont Speedway and Attica Raceway Park – two of the most exciting and successful dirt tracks in the nation – said he and Barman are extremely grateful to once again share their love of racing on the radio.

“Scott and I are lifelong race fans first and foremost. We want to see our sport grow and prosper and share with others that excitement of racing. We are lucky in Northwest Ohio to have such great entertaining racing. We have the most knowledgeable, passionate fans and some of the most talented drivers and crews you will find any where in the United States and we want to get the word out to others…we know we can get a lot of other people hooked on this sport,” said Liskai.

For over the past year, Liskai and Barman have hosted an internet racing talk show called the Last Lap FAST Cast.

“The Buckeye Speedzone will get us to more listeners as we focus on the local racing scene and also branch out to other forms of racing. If it has a motor and races…we’re going to talk about it,” said Liskai.

Tom “TK” Klein, co-owner of WFRO-FM said BAS Broadcasting is committed to racing.

“We’re happy to have Brian and Scott on our broadcast team. We think the move to Thursday night for the Buckeye Speedzone is excellent…good for the tracks, the drivers and their sponsors. We look forward to another exciting racing season,” said Klein.

Listeners who live outside the radio area can go to www.basohio.com to listen over the internet.

The BAS Racing Network is also planning live race coverage from area tracks in 2011.
