Badger Rookie to receive $1,000 bonus

Sun Prairie, Wis., Jan. 28—The 2011 Badger Midget Series Rookie of the Year will be awarded a $1,000 bonus at the conclusion of the 2011 racing season. The announcement was made following the Badger Board meeting earlier this week.
The 2011 Diamond Anniversary season will mark the 75th year of sanctioning midget auto racing, for the country’s oldest midget auto racing organization. Badger began awarding the Rookie of the Year honors during the 1960 season, with Matt Tague claiming the freshman honors. Tague, Dave Ray (1973), Dan Fredenberg (1975), Ken Biertzer (1976) and Dan Boorse (1978) are the only five drivers to be Rookie of the Year and go onto win the Badger Driver’s Championship.
Badger Cars will again be using Hoosier Racing Tires on all four wheels at all sanctioned events during the season. The season kicks-off on May 14-15 with a doubleheader event at Angell Park Speedway, co-sanctioned with the USAC National
Midget Series.
