TORRANCE, CA – FEBRUARY 19, 2011 — Nic Faas of Huntington Beach, California has signed on with the Alexander Racing Team for the 2011 campaign. With help from Ken Goecke at Scott Sales Company, the new combination plans to make a bid for the USAC/CRA Sprint Car title.
Faas takes over the ride driven by “The Cowboy” Tony Jones. Jones, the son of Hall of Fame driver Bubby Jones, joined the team in 2006 and won the USAC/CRA championship the following year. Tony scored twenty main event victories in the #4 “Silver Bullet”, including two USAC National preliminaries at the Perris Oval Nationals. “Super” Rickie Gaunt, Mike Kirby, and “The Kruser” Cory Kruseman have also won features in the Alexander car.
In 2008, Nic won the USAC Western Midget Series Championship and Rookie of the Year honors with USAC/CRA. Despite limited appearances last season with USAC/CRA, Faas finished twentieth in the point standings. In addition, the twenty-one year old driver won the $5,000 All Coast Construction Challenge finale for the VRA 360 Sprint Cars at Ventura Raceway.
Faas will make his debut in the Mark Alexander owned J&D Performance powered Spike at Perris Auto Speedway’s “Sokola Shootout” on March 12th. The majority of last year’s sponsors with the Alexander Team will return with many marketing opportunities still available.
The Alexander Team would like to thank Scott Sales Company, LaVilla Mexican Restaurant, VP Racing Fuels, Extreme Mufflers, SCRAFAN.COM, Berdoo Auto Body, and friends for supporting their efforts in 2011.
