Reidy Just Misses Out

From Redline Media

A late restart fumble denied Danny Reidy of a maiden feature race victory of the season last Saturday night at Brisbane International Speedway during the seventh round of the Queensland Sprintcar Series.

Reidy sat in second behind leader and eventual winner Todd Wanless after he had worked his way up from his eighth starting position in the feature race, but during the closing stages on a restart saw an end to his winning aspirations.

“We were looking pretty good there for the win and on the restart Todd [Wanless] had a bit of a stumble before the [restart] cone and I had to check up as I didn’t want to be penalised for passing before the cone and it allowed Todd to pull a bit of a gap,” explained the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported Eagle driver. “I tried my best in the final laps to close the gap, but in the end I ran out of laps and second was where I ended up.”

Earlier in the night, Reidy had qualified 11th in time trials and then moved forward in both of his heat races to place fourth and third. Reidy’s results qualified eighth highest point scorer and that was where he started from position eight in the feature race.

Reidy is now going to take a weekend off before he returned to the track on Saturday night, March 12 at Brisbane International Speedway for the eighth round of the Queensland Series.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Titan Plant Hire, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their support throughout the 2010/11 season.
