SANTA MARIA, CA – MARCH 4, 2011… The traditional 410 cubic-inch powered cars of the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series have a schedule featuring twenty-two events in 2011. With stops at the clay ovals of Perris, Hanford, Santa Maria, Watsonville, and Calistoga, the series will also make their debut at Victorville Raceway Park and Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway.
Don Kazarian’s Perris Auto Speedway will host eleven shows on the calendar. Special events at USAC/CRA’s “home track” include the season opening “Sokola Shootout” on March 12th, the “Salute To Indy” on May 28th, and the “Firecracker 30” on July 2nd. The “Kindoll Classic” is July 30th, the “Glenn Howard Memorial” will be September 24th, and the three day Budweiser Oval Nationals will start November 3rd. For more information on the Perris races, visit perrisautospeedway.com.
With a new promoter in place, the Victorville Raceway Park will showcase three dates in 2011. The USAC/CRA Sprints will make their debut at Steve Quercio’s 3/8-mile facility on March 26th, with other shows tentatively scheduled for May 29th, and October 29th. Series officials are confident that the success of the March race will solidify the May and October shows. For more information on the events at Victorville, visit victorvilleracewaypark.com.
This year will mark the return of USAC/CRA to Hanford’s Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway. Now promoted by Scott Woodhouse, the 3/8-mile track last saw non-winged 410 Sprint Cars in 2007. With two dates on the schedule, the series will travel to the Central Valley on May 7th and November 12th. The November date is a co-sanctioned event with the USAC National Sprints and the season finale where the champion will be crowned. For details on the Hanford shows, visit giantchevroletspeedway.com.
John Prentice’s Ocean Speedway will feature the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars on Friday, June 17th. As the opening round of a doubleheader with Santa Maria, this event will be the first of five co-sanctioned races with the new USAC Western Classic Racing Series. Last year, “The Kruser” Cory Kruseman scored the victory at the Watsonville 1/4-mile oval. For more information on the Watsonville race, visit oceanspeedway.com.
Chris Kearns’ Santa Maria Speedway will host two events on the schedule, coming on June 18th and August 13th. The Saturday, June 18th race is co-sanctioned with the USAC Western Classic Racing Series and the final round of a doubleheader with Watsonville. Last season, “Bullet” Blake Miller won at the 1/3-mile facility and the two dates in 2011 could play a key role in the series championship. The famed Calistoga Speedway will once again play host to the Louis Vermeil Classic. The popular 2-day event will be held Labor Day weekend, September 3rd & 4th. Many fans will travel to the scenic 1/2-mile track to see traditional 410 Sprint Cars return to the former home of the Northern Auto Racing Club (NARC). Also co-sanctioned with the USAC Western Classic Racing Series, the facility will have a driver autograph session, an auction of racing collectibles, wine tasting featuring many of the top local wineries, and other activities for fans to enjoy. USAC/CRA will make their series debut at Dennis Gage’s Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on September 8th. The famous 1/4-mile track will host a rare Thursday night race for the traditional 410 sprints during the famed “Gold Cup Race of Champions.” Co-sanctioned with the USAC Western Classic Racing Series, the “Gold Cup” is regarded by Sprint Car fans in Northern California as a must see event.
