Although he was disappointed not to back-up his second place finish from a fortnight earlier at Brisbane International Speedway; Danny Reidy managed to recover from a slow start to last Saturday night’s latest round of the Queensland Sprintcar Series to end the feature race in sixth place.
In qualifying Reidy missed the setup of the NT # 5 Desert Palms – Alice Springs supported Eagle and set the 22nd fastest lap within the 27 car field and it saw him forced to play catch up for the rest of the night.
Due to his poor qualifying effort, Reidy started towards the front of both of his heat races and managed to score a pair of wins. These successes saw Reidy qualify directly into the feature race field out of position 13.
Reidy in the feature race was able to work his way forward from the outset and eventually greeted the chequered flag in a credible sixth place.
“We bombed out in qualifying and that hurt us in regards to a starting spot towards the front in the feature race,” admitted Reidy. “In the feature race we weren’t too bad, as we had moved forward and were one of the fastest [cars] out there. Our run towards the end saw us move towards a spot on the podium, but in the end we didn’t get enough of a run and ended up in sixth.”
This Saturday night (March 19) heads to Dubbo’s Morris Park Speedway in Central Western NSW for the first time to contest the NSW Sprintcar Championship.
Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Titan Plant Hire, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their support throughout the 2010/11 season.
