(Riverside, CA, March 20, 2011) Fresh off a sixth place finish in the USAC/CRA season opening Sokola Shootout at Perris Auto Speedway on March 12th, Riverside, California racing veteran “Dynamite” David Cardey heads to the Pick-A-Part Victorville Raceway Park for the first ever USAC/CRA race on the High Desert this Saturday, March 26th. Gates at VRP will open at 4:30 PM and the first race will be at 6:00.
Cardey fired the opening salvo of his 2011 racing campaign when he qualified the iTi Performance Viper/Pick’s Racing Engine Mopar fifth overall in the 27 car field at the season opener. He then claimed third in his ten lap heat race and started the main event on the inside of the third row.
The 35-year old was seventh at the end of the first circuit. Cardey fought and battled all the way up to fifth in the affair and at the Kevin Winter’s checkered flag he was sixth.
Cardey and his crew have been prepping the car for Saturday’s historic race at Victorville. Over the winter the facility changed promoters and one of the first things the new group did was book the USAC/CRA Series. While it is a new promoter and a new venue for the eight year old series, Cardey is very familiar with the track. Last year, driving for longtime California speed guru Don Blair, Cardey won two open competition main events on the third of a mile clay oval. He hopes to add the first USAC/CRA race on the High Desert to his victory ledger this Saturday.
David would like to thank the following sponsors who are making his 2011 season possible: Circle Track Performance, Victory Race Cars, Picks Racing Engines, Racer’s Pub, Champion Racing Lubricants, WIX Filters, Spin Tech Mufflers, DWT Wheels, Eibach, Jim Giardina, Glenn Crossno, Don Flanders, George Otten and Scott Daloisio Sports.
