A mystery brake problem brought Danny Reidy’s winning aspirations last Saturday night at Brisbane International Speedway undone.
In what was the latest round of the Queensland Sprintcar Series, the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resorts – Alice Springs supported Eagle driver had qualified on pole position for the feature race by virtue of winning the Top 6 dash. However, it all came undone without him even completing a lap of the feature race, as Reidy explained.
“Despite the brake issue that we had developed during the second heat race of the night where we had too much brake, we were looking pretty good there in the feature race,” said the 26-year-old, who had earlier in the night claimed a pair of second place finishes in his heat races. “Going into the opening turn off the start I had a half lose, due to the brake problem, and I was unintentionally hit from behind by the car following me, which spun me around and cut my left rear tyre. My team were able to replace the tyre and I started at the back of the feature race for the restart, but after a few laps the brake drama got worse and I pulled in.”
Reidy, who recently made the decision to contest the Queensland Tri-Series Shootout over the Easter Long Weekend later next month, returns to the track on Saturday night, April 9 at Brisbane International Speedway for the latest round of the Queensland Series. This will be his final hit-out at the track before the commencement of the Queensland Tri-Series Shootout.
Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Titan Plant Hire, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their support throughout the 2010/11 season.
