Reidy’s Hard Charging Drive Halted

For the second occasion in a row at Brisbane International Speedway Danny Reidy has been robbed of an impressive result due to misfortune.

Just a fortnight after being troubled of brake issues aboard the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported Eagle; Reidy returned to Brisbane International Speedway looking for redemption and it all looked to be going to plan.

“I was coming through the field very strongly, as my car was great from the beginning, but with only a handful of laps to go I came together with a lapped car and that brought me undone,” explained Reidy. “I had actually managed to unhook myself from the lapped car and that was when I was collected from behind by a closely following Peter Thorley, who had nowhere to go. The contact saw him [Thorley] tip on his side and in the process I sustained damage that ended my night.”

At the time of the feature race incident, which had occurred with just five laps remaining, Reidy had charged his way up from 13th spot up to fifth. He had actually moved up to fifth a few laps earlier only to lose a few spots before he managed to regain them.

Reidy earlier in the night had a disappointing run in qualifying time trials, 16th, and despite a pair of third places finishes in his two heat races it wasn’t enough points to earn him a spot in the Top 6 dash.

This weekend (April 16 and 17) Reidy and his team heads to Dubbo’s Morris Park Speedway in Western NSW for the running of the Diggers Cup on the Saturday night and then the NSW Championship on the Sunday night. For Reidy this will be his very first visit to the Morris Park Speedway track.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Titan Plant Hire, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their support throughout the 2010/11 season.
