Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc., home of the National Midget Hall of Fame, is next up for the Mopar USAC National Midget Series on May 14-15. Bryan Clauson and Bobby East share the lead in the series after 1-2 finishes in a pair of races last weekend at Dodge City, Kans.
Clauson, of Noblesville, Ind., won both “Duel in Dodge City” races in his NOS Energy Drink Tucker/BCI/Curb-Agajanian Spike/Esslinger Ford.
He led the final 19 laps to win Saturday night’s 40-lap feature. East finished second ahead of Brady Bacon, Gary Taylor and Kody Swanson. Taylor led the first 21 laps of the race. Clauson also set a new track qualifying record of 15.547 seconds during time trials.
Clauson caught Gary Taylor on lap 22 of Friday’s 30-lapper and led the rest of the way to beat East, Bacon, Taylor and Kody Swanson.
Looking ahead, favorites at Sun Prairie would include Clauson, who won two of last year’s five Angell Park features. Other 2010 Sun Prairie feature winners were Brad Kuhn, Brad Sweet and Tracy Hines.
