Abbottstown, PA — (5/15/2011) – The first in what appeared on the radar to be a series of evening thunderstorms hit the Pigeon Hills ten minutes after gates opened Sunday, forcing promoters to cancel the “Sprint Car Spectacular” program intended to benefit the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.

NASCAR star Kasey Kahne, World of Outlaw stars Cody Darrah and Lucas Wolfe, and 2010 Knoxville Nationals winner and All-Star Circuit of Champions titlist Tim Shaffer were among the drivers planning to compete. All proceeds from the night were to be turned over to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing to support Phase IV of the EMMR’s museum expansion.

Kahne, who had problems late in the Cup race at Dover, was on the grounds when the cancellation was announced.

Promoters Bob and Don Leiby and Alan Kreitzer announced that rain checks for those who had already entered the gates can be used for any upcoming show through and including Saturday, June 4th. Anyone who would like a refund can mail rain checks to Lincoln.

410 and 358 sprint car teams which were already in the pits can turn in their wristbands next Saturday (May 21st) and receive a $5 refund, or the teams can keep the rain checks to use at the next show for which there is a $25 pit gate admission.

Next weekend, Lincoln Speedway will be back in action Saturday, May 21st at 7 PM with another three-division show featuring the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 Sprints, the Keizer Aluminum Wheels 358 Sprints, and Thundercars. Gates will open at 5 PM.
