GREENWOOD, Neb. (May 26, 2011) – Grain Valley, Missouri’s Brian Brown kicked off the Memorial Day weekend’s racing festivities by continuing his mastery of I-80 Speedway with another drive to victory lane atop the 4/10-mile dirt oval in Thursday night’s 25-lap Speedway Motors ASCS Midwest main event.
Brown set the pace all the way in the FVP No. 21 Maxim after starting from the pole position to earn the $2,000 victory, his ninth ASCS Midwest triumph at I-80 Speedway and second in a row after an April 9 score.
Brown snared his 25th overall career ASCS feature win in front of uncle and fellow front row starter Danny Lasoski, with North Dakota’s Lee Grosz claiming the show position. Jack Dover was the top finishing host state driver in fourth, with Oklahoma native Shane Stewart working forward from 11th to round out the top five.
The balance of the top ten included Wayne Johnson, 14th-starter Chad Humston, Bronson Maeschen, Ryan Roberts and Trevor Grossenbacher.
Grosz, Johnson, Brown and Brady Bacon topped heat race action for the 32-car field, with Billy Alley winning the 12-lap “B” Main.
The Speedway Motors ASCS Midwest Region moves on to Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE, for a $3,000-to-win tilt on Friday night, provided the winner competed in Thursday night’s I-80 Speedway event. If Friday’s winner did not race at I-80 on Thursday, the winner’s share will be $1,500.
