Ventura, CA – May 28, 2011
Bakersfield’s Shannon McQueen guided her McQueen Racing #7 Spike/Esslinger to a fifth-place finish in the VRA sanctioned event at the 1/5-mile Ventura Raceway on Saturday, May 28, her seventh consecutive Top 10 run and fifth Top 5 of the year.
After starting tenth in the feature, McQueen rallied towards the front, running the high side, to take home a fifth place finish in the 25-car field, her best finish at the tight, 1/5-mile track this year.
Starting eighth in Heat 1, McQueen surged to fourth place Heat on the very dry track. High winds kept the moisture packed very deep, making for a decent, dry racing surface. McQueen was also fourth fastest in practice.
After seven strong runs, all top tens to open the season, including one feature victory, McQueen leads both the BCRA Dirt points and USAC-Western States points. Next up for McQueen Racing is the Saturday, June 11 BCRA race at the 1/4-mile Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.
McQueen Racing would like to thank all our wonderful sponsors Lucas Oil Products, K&N Filters, Simpson Race Products, JE Piston Company, Advanced Racing Suspensions, Eibach Springs, Ruth Engineering, American Fabrication and Esslinger Racing Engines by Duane McQueen.
