Team XXX Drivers have been racking up victory lane appearances from coast to coast. Recent Team XXX Winners include Brian Montieth, Jared Peterson, Koty Adams, Bill Johnson, Sean McClelland, Jerry Richert Jr, Scotty Thiel, Jimmy Brookens, Steve Owings, Brady Bacon, Derek Roberts and Jake Hummel.
Brian Montieth has really found his rhythm over the past few weeks, as the Pennsylvania native has won on back to back weekends at Lincoln Speedway in the 410 division. After racing his way to a three second margin of victory at the Keystone Cup Race on May 28th (netting the Premier Auto Works Team $5,000 for his efforts), Montieth battled through aches, pain & rain to pick up his fourth Lincoln win of the year on June 4th as he won the 8th Annual Weldon Sterner Memorial in his XXX chassis.
Brady Bacon topped the ASCS Sooner / NCRA Sprints on Sunday night May 29th for his first feature win of the year at the Steve King Memorial in Jetmore, Kansas. Racing at The Great American Dirt Track, Bacon took the lead around lap twenty and held off overall points champion Jack Dover to score the feature win which makes him 3 out of 4 at Steve King Memorial races in his XXX chassis.
XXX employee Jared Peterson (aka Petey) brought home the big trophy and bragging rights at the shop with a win Saturday night in the 360 division at Skagit Speedway. Jared ran down early race leader Alan Munn, then expertly navigated lapped traffic to pick up his first of what we expect to be many wins on the year.
Koty Adams has been the man to beat with the Southern Thunder Sprints over the past two seasons, and he proved it again this past Saturday night. Racing at Leesville 171 Speedway in Louisiana, Adams rolled to his third XXX win of 2011.
Late race heroics gave Bill Johnson another victory in his XXX sprint car this past weekend. At Arlington Raceway in Minnesota, Bill waited until the closing laps of the contest to make his move on the leader, then barely edged out the competition at the start / finish line, picking up the W by the margin of only a couple of feet.
There’s nothing quite like back to back winning weekends, as Sean McClelland can attest. After taking his XXX chassis to a OCRS victory on May 27th at Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, OK, Sean picked up another win in OCRS action, this time coming at Outlaw Motor Speedway. After leading every lap of the May 28th event, McClelland used some late race heroics to pull off the victory this past weekend, waiting until turn two of the final lap to take the lead.
The Richert Family is used to being in victory lane, and we at Triple X Race Co are happy to help get them there. On Friday night June 3rd, Jerry Richert Jr won his first UMSS feature of 2011, sweeping the night by winning the heat race and leading all but the first seven laps of the main event in his XXX chassis.
Scotty Thiel joined Team XXX over the past offseason, and his XXX chassis has brought him solid results so far, with numerous podium finishes. This past weekend, Thiel added his first win of the year to his resume, beating the MSA Sprints at Manitowoc County Fairgrounds in Wisconsin. Thiel paced the field for most of the 30 lap feature.
Many Pennsylvania Tracks have been running twin features recently to help their drivers make up for missed seat time due to the wet weather that has plagued the USA this race season. Steve Owings was the beneficiary to the twin feature trend, as he won the makeup feature from 5/27 at Trail-Way Speedway in their 358 division. Owings ran from eighth all the way up to the lead by the end of the seventh lap to claim the win.
After picking up his first career win with a pass in the final corner of the final lap, Derek Roberts made it a little bit easier on himself on Saturday night My 28th at Skagit Speedway by leading all 20 laps comfortably in the Sportsman Sprint division. Roberts led an all XXX top three, with Steve Parker and Rob Schroder filling the podium with their XXX chassis.
In XXX 600 Mini Sprint action, Jimmy Brookens found the results he was looking for on Friday night at Path Valley Speedway, as the track ran dual features to make up for previously rained out events. In feature one, Brookens navigated his way to a second place finish, then turned around and applied everything he’d learned about the track to set his car up perfectly for feature #2 as he cruised to victory in the evening’s finale.
The transition from 270cc to 600cc racing has been an easy one for Jake Hummel. Over Memorial Day weekend, Hummel picked up his second win of the year at Greenwood Valley Action Track in Orangeville, PA in his XXX 600. Jake beat the 25 car field to take the win at the annual Racer’s Tribute Memorial.
