(Riverside, CA, June 9, 2011) This Saturday night, June 11th, at the Summer Sprint Spectacular at Victorville Raceway Park, Riverside, California racing star “Dynamite” David Cardey hopes to rebound from a mechanical disappointment at the Salute to Indy two weeks ago.

In defense of his 2010 Salute to Indy victory, things started off bright enough for the 35-year-old racing star in the 2011 version of the prestigious race at Perris Auto Speedway. Against a strong 33-car field, Cardey clocked the fourth fastest time in qualifying. He came from the back to finish second in his 10-lap heat race and he began the 33-lap main event inside the third row. He quickly sliced his way to the front of the pack in his bright red #59 Sprint Car and at one point was all the way up to the second and challenging for the lead. However, on lap 15, while fighting for second, the fuel pump broke and Cardey, who came into the race second in points, was done for the night and finished 20th.
Cardey heads into Saturday’s Victorville (http://victorvilleracewaypark.com/) race full of optimism. Last year, driving legendary Southern California “Speed Guru” Don Blair’s #12 Sprint Car, Cardey won two straight main events on the racy 1/3 of a mile clay oval. Earlier this year, in USAC/CRA’s only appearance at the track, he recorded a hard earned second place finish. Those top finishes have him thinking nothing but victory this Saturday.
Next week, the USAC/CRA Series hits the road for a pair of races Friday and Saturday night. Friday’s race will be the only appearance of 2011 at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville. Saturday will see the first of two 2011 stops at Chris Kearn’s Santa Maria Speedway. Cardey, who is fourth in series points, just 31 markers behind the leader, is still undecided if he will head north for the two races. “It depends on finances,” Cardey said. “Hopefully we will do well at Victorville or come up with a sponsor for the trip. If we do have a good night, we will sit down and talk it over.”
David would like to thank the following sponsors who are making his 2011 season possible: Circle Track Performance, Victory Race Cars, Picks Racing Engines, Racer’s Pub, WIX Filters, Spin Tech Mufflers, DWT Wheels, Torque Power Engines, Eibach Springs, Jim Giardina, Don Flanders, George Otten and Scott Daloisio Sports.
