After much deliberation, the Bay Cities Racing Association Midgets will be rescheduling their June 10th date at Silver Dollar Speedway to August 5th. And with the USAC Western Classic Sprint cars being on the ticket, BCRA will co-sanction the Midget portion with USAC as well.
This event will become part of BCRA’s Hall of Fame weekend, with the BCRA Midgets running at Placerville Speedway Saturday August 6th. Preceding that event will be BCRA’s Hall of Fame picnic and induction ceremony.
“I am very excited to have 2 big races on our Hall of Fame weekend again this year,” says BCRA President David Prickett. “Last year, we had 25+ car fields both nights. This year, I hope for the same, and to get more people interested in the picnic as well.”
BCRA’s Hall of Fame was created in 1983 to honor its members who contributed to the club. Johnny Boyd was the sole inductee in 1983, followed by Fred Agabashian and Jack London in 1984. Other well known Midget names have been added to the list over the years like Vukovich, Nichols and Gurney.
“I encourage everyone that will be around the El Dorado County Fairgrounds that Saturday (August 6, 2011) to stop by,” says Prickett. “It is a great time to talk to Midget racings past and present, as well as a raffle and a great lunch before a night of racing.”
Full details on these 2 events and where to buy tickets for the picnic will be coming shortly. For more news and results, go to www.bcraracing.com.
