Waynesfield Raceway Park is back in action in a huge way this Saturday night July 2nd, as the “Road to the Hewitt Classic” stops at the 1/3 mile bullring just south of Waynesfield, Ohio.

“The Road to the Jack Hewitt Classic” is a mini points series sponsored by Hoosier tire consisting of eight races that takes place at 4 different tracks: Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, Gas City I-69 Speedway in Gas City Indiana, Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio, and Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio.

At the first “Road to the Hewitt Classic” event at each track, the winner of that event is guaranteed a spot at the 3rd Annual Jack Hewitt Classic at Waynesfield on Saturday August 6th. On Saturday April 30th, Matt Westfall picked up the win at Eldora Speedway, and on May 20th, Brent Burdette picked up the win at Gas City, guaranteeing those drivers a starting spot in the A Main at the Hewitt Classic if they are unable to race their way in. Waynesfield will have their qualifier this Saturday July 2nd, and Millstream will have theirs on Sunday July 10th.

In addition to the afore mentioned races, The “Road to the Hewitt Classic” will be part of a triple header weekend starting Friday July 29th at Gas City I-69 Speedway, Saturday July 30th at Eldora Speedway, and Sunday July 31st at Millstream Speedway. The series culminates on Saturday August 6th at Waynesfield Raceway Park with the 3rd Annual Jack Hewitt Classic, honoring racing legend Jack Hewitt of Troy, Ohio.

Current “Road to the Hewitt Classic” points standings find the “Iceman” Coleman Gulick of Binghamton, New York and the “Flyin’ Buckeye” Matt Westfall of Pleasant Hill, Ohio tied for the top spot, with Justin Grant third, Scotty Weir fourth, and Thomas Meseraull rounding out the top 5.
