D1 MIDGETS RETURN TO SPEEDROME TUESDAY, SUN PRAIRIE SUNDAY

The 2011 USAC Mopar D1 Midget Series repeats last week’s schedule this week with races again at the Bryant Heating & Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome Tuesday night and Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc. Sunday night. Tuesday’s race is presented by IUPUI, while Sunday’s race is co-sanctioned by the Badger Midget Series.

Taylor Ferns of Shelby Township, Mich. will continue her quest to become USAC’s second female driving champion as she enters this week’s events with a 25-point lead over Jake Blackhurst in the latest standings.

Bryan Nuckles of Columbus, Ohio, who earned his first USAC victory last week at the Bryant Heating & Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome, did at again last Wednesday night, leading the final 25 laps of the 50-lap USAC Mopar D1 Midget feature in his Columbus Motor Speedway Beast/Ford. Mario Marietta led the first 25 laps and finished second ahead of Morgan Nelson, Jake Blackhurst and Caleb Armstrong

Brad Kuhn of Avon, Ind. led the final 14 laps in the RW Motorsports Beast/Fontana to win Sunday night’s 30-lap USAC Mopar D1 Midget feature at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie which was co-sanctioned by the Badger Midget Series. Brandon Waelti, Mike Hess and Scott Hatton also led during the first half of the race. Kuhn, the night’s fastest qualifier, was trailed by Hess, Bubba Altig, Davey Ray and Waelti at the checkered flag.
