The AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Cars compete on both dirt and paved ovals this weekend, with races scheduled at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. Saturday night and Winchester (Ind.) Speedway.
Saturday nightโs Haubstadt Hustler Sprint 50 โspecial eventโ co-sanctioned by MSCS at Haubstadt offers a unique format and equal points for all competitors due to its โspecial eventโ nature.
Sunday afternoonโs โRich Vogler Classicโ at Winchester continues USACโs 2012 Pavement Sprint Car series, which is led by Bobby Santos III, who has won two of the four races held to date.
Levi Jones of Olney, Ill. continues to pace the AMSOIL National series after coming from 16th starting position to finish second to Chris Windom in Saturday nightโs โJim Hurtubise Classicโ at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track. Jonesโ lead over Windom stands at 16 points after the Terre Haute event. Santosโ pavement point lead is only six points over Tanner Swanson going into Sundayโs Winchester classic.
Windom, of Canton, Ill., led all 30 laps to win at Terre Haute. Windom piloted the Fox Paving/Claxton Engines Maxim/Mopar to the victory. Hunter Schuerenberg, Keith Bloom Jr. and Robert Ballou rounded out the โtop-five.โ Four drivers flipped during the program, including Bryan Clauson, who cleared the wall in turn one on the opening lap of the feature, but there were no injuries
Jones finished sixth and Windom 10th in the Indiana Sprint Week finale at Haubstadt in July.
