(Riverside, CA, September 22, 2011) After a month out of the driver’s seat Riverside, California racing star “Dynamite” David Cardey is poised and ready to take a big run at the top spot in the 4th Annual Glenn Howard Memorial for the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars this Saturday night, September 24th, at Perris Auto Speedway.
The 35-year old driver put on a show the last time the tough series appeared on the famous Riverside Count clay oval on August 20th. He timed in ninth-fast in the 31-car field and won his ten-lap heat race.
Starting on the front row of the 30-lap main event, the slender racer steered the brilliant red #59 sprint car into the lead and set the pace for the first seven laps. He eventually picked up a hard fought third place finish.
The finish was a shot of adrenalin for Cardey and the crew after four straight mechanical and crash plagued races in the series. They have high hopes and tons of optimism heading into this Saturday’s event.
Saturday’s Glenn Howard Memorial will carry more than $14,000.00 in added money and contingences to the regular purse. Perhaps what has Cardey and all of the drivers even more pumped up is a chance to win the race dedicated to Howard, who was a well respected driver, owner, official and an innovator in the sport.
Cardey and the crew welcome all fans to come down and meet them, pose for photos, sit in the car and get autographs after Saturday’s final checkered flag.
Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM on Saturday and the first race will be at 7:00. For more information, please visit the track web site at: http://www.perrisautospeedway.com/
