Back on the gas after recording two victories in Florida, Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team rolled into ‘Sin City’ and The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Unveiling a new paint scheme for new sponsor MobileStar, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ was in search of his first triumph at the big half-mile in 44 appearances that include 5 runner-up performances, 14 top-fives, and 21 top-tens finishes.
The program got underway with the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim qualified 9th fastest upon the 27 competitors. In heat race competition Dollansky capitalized on a front-row starting spot to rocket into the top-spot and cruise to the victory in the 8-lap event. Starting from row four of the dash ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ bettered his starting spot for the main event by advancing a couple positions.
In the 30-lap A-Main the MobileStar #7 lined up outside of row three. Running seventh after a caution with two circuits complete, Dollansky got a bad restart and dropped to twelfth by a lap 10 stoppage. When action resumed ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ sling-shot between three cars in turn two just five circuits later to assume ninth and hold the spot until another caution on lap 23. From then on the night that seemed like a top-ten finish got very interesting. Although Dollansky never suffered a flat-tire, extreme tire wear plagued the Elk River, Minnesota native down the stretch as he dropped to 14th when the checkered flag finally flew on an incredibly long feature that saw numerous drivers end up with flat tires that resulted in six stoppages in the final 7 laps.
With Las Vegas in the books the Big Game Treestands #7 team will head further West where World of Outlaws competition continues tomorrow at Perris Auto Speedway for the first time since 2007.
