Returning to a facility where you achieved a milestone is always special. On Saturday this was the case as Craig Dollansky revisited Perris Auto Speedway in California, the site where he scored his first career World of Outlaws victory back in 1999.
With 26 competitors signed into the pit area for the first World of Outlaws race at the half-mile since 2007 action got underway with qualifying. The racing surface got better as qualifying progressed, unfortunately the Big Game Treestands #7 drew an early number and ended up 14th fastest. Missing the heat inversion put Dollansky inside of row three for heat #2 where he finished 6th to transfer into the main event.
In the A-Main the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter started outside of row seven. When the green flag dropped on the 30-lap feature ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ raced up to eleventh before a red flag on lap 2. The MobileStar #7 continued to rise to the top by cracking the top-ten and assuming eighth before another stoppage five circuits later. When action resumed trouble found Dollansky as the #7 dropped a cylinder and fell to tenth by a lap 12 caution. Down on horsepower, Dollansky continued to hold on and run 10th until just after a lap 22 restart when the powerplant let go retiring the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products Maxim from what would have been a strong finish.
Up next for the Big Game Treestands #7 team is a two-day show at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California starting on Friday.
