ROCHESTER, NY (March 14, 2012)- In recognition of the 10th season of Patriot Sprint Tour Action, the series has announced two major point funds that will certainly add intensity to the first decade of racing for the sanctioning body.

Split in to two national regions this season, the Patriot Sprint Tour will have separate point funds for each country that will each feature a hefty championship payout. The champion of the American PST events will capture an impressive $10,000 while the top driver in Patriot races in Canada will receive $5,000.

“We are excited to offer these championship point funds for the 10th Patriot Season,” stated PST President Mike Emhof. “It is important for us to properly showcase this landmark season and these point funds are just part of the celebration.”

With such large prizes being offered, more than a few worthy candidates have stated their intention to chase the championship. Jared Zimbardi, the reigning PST Champ, is included in this group, as is four-time series champion Bryan Howland, who is once again back on the tour full-time in 2012. Add to it the likes of Tim Kelly, Scott Kreutter, Steve Collins, Don Adamczyk, Dylan Swiernik, Justin Barger, Bruce DeWick, Erica Bell, Mark Tychoniewicz, Dave Wickham and 2004 Champion George Suprick among those that also plan to run the complete American Tour and it is easy to understand why the five-figure payout figures to be hotly-contested. Keep in mind that this list does not include the plethora of other top contenders that are looking at committing to the PST in 2012.

North of the Border, many of those same names figure to be a staple of those events, as well as Canadian contenders such as Alain Bergeron, Travis Cunningham, Mitch Brown, Glenn Styres, Michael Parent, Devin Caron and many more joining this 12-race region.

The 2012 PST Season kicks off exactly a month from today at the Fulton Speedway in the A-Verdi Methanol Meltdown. This highly-anticipated event is the starting point for the season for most sprint car shoes from the Empire State. This will kick off a fast start to the PST America Campaign with six full-point shows before Memorial Day.

The first races in Canada for the PST this season will be at Autodrome Granby on May 11 and 12 for the Can-Am Challenge, a major-paying event that will reward show-up points to get that series started.
