Barks Makes Noise at Bootheel 200

Malden MO – March 31, 2012 – Dustin Barks from Farmington, Missouri blasted from his K&N Filters Pole Position into the www.RockAuto.com USCS victory lane in the United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear portion of the 6th Annual Bootheel 200 at Malden Speedway on Saturday night. It was Barks’ career-first USCS win. The defending Bootheel 200 sprint car Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee chased Barks to the finish line in the runner-up spot. Gray grabbed the lead on the initial start that was called back by a caution for Eric Riggins, Jr’s stalled car.

On the re-start, Barks grabbed the lead in turn one and held off a strong field of top sprint car drivers the rest of the way. A previous winner of the event, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas battled Gray for the runner-up position all of the way, but raced home in third place. 2008 USCS Rookie of the Year, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee finished in fourth place. Former USCS National Champion, Eddie Gallagher from Piperton, Tennessee rounded out the top five.

Alex Shanks from Marion, Illinois lead the next group in sixth place. The 2011National Midget and ASCS Warrior regional series Champion, Brad Loyet from Saint Louis, Missouri followed in seventh place. A former Bootheel 200 sprint car Champion, Jerrod Hull from Sikeston, Missouri finished eighth. The 2009 USCS Rookie of the Year, Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee finished ninth and 2010 USCS Rookie of the Year, Morgan Turpen from Oakland, Tennessee rounded out the top ten. She also won the evenings B-Main event.

The 2011 USCS Rookie of the Year, Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, Arkansas kicked off the evening’s action with a trip to the www.RockAuto.com victory lane in the Goodyear Speed Dash. Wade Oliver from Southaven, Mississippi then won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. The defending USCS National Champion, Terry Gray then won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Eventual feature race winner, Dustin Barks won the FSR Racing Third Heat race.

For passing the most cars in the main event, Ronny Howard from Nesbit, Mississippi garnered the evenings Wilwood Disc Brakes “Hard Charger” Award. Tim Crawley collected the J.E. Pistons Top Guns award that rotates from first through fifth places. Tim Crawley also earned the K&N Filters Podium Award for his third place finish in the A-Main. Eddie Gallagher earned the Keizer Aluminum Wheels top Five Award and Morgan Turpen received the DMI/Bulldog Top Ten Award.

The next United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear Outlaw Thunder Tour event is at Carolina Motor Speedway on Friday, April 13th. The following night on Saturday, April 14th, the series visits historic Toccoa Speedway in Toccoa, Georgia. The USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints join the United Sprint Car Series for both events.
