WESTERN MIDGETS AT BAKERSFIELD SPEEDWAY SATURDAY

By Dick Jordan

The 2012 USAC Mopar Western Midget Series visits Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway this Saturday night after rains forced postponement of last Saturday night’s races at Madera, Calif.

The “Gerhardt Classic” at Madera Speedway will hopefully be rescheduled for later in the 2012 season. A new date will be announced when firm.

Defending USAC Western Midget Champion Cory Kruseman and Josh Lakatos were the winners the last time the series appeared at the third-mile Bakersfield oval, in 2010.

Ryan Bernal, by virtue of his victory in this year’s series opener at Chico, Calif., is the current series point leader.

Rain forced cancellation of last September’s USAC Mopar Western Midget race at Bakersfield.
