The weather is heating up in Nor Cal and so is “KWS Tonight” this Thursday evening as we get ready for the big King of the West event on Saturday at Marysville Raceway Park. On the show this week we will feature interviews with National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Jimmy Sills and defending Marysville KWS winner Willie Croft, along with much more.
To view the show log onto http://www.kwssprints.com/ starting at 7pm pst on Thursday. It will then replay on the homepage to watch at your leisurely pleasure over the next week. You can also see the show directly on the “KWS Tonight” Vimeo page at http://vimeo.com/user10076991
This week’s show will also be the final one for our friend and full-time production editor “Tailgate” Paul Rodriguez, who is moving on to the next phase of his life. We want to thank “Tailgate” for all of his hard work over the last year and a half, but we would like to welcome new editor Brandon Skaggs to the team.
As documented Jimmy Sills will be making his anticipated return to the seat of a 410 Sprint Car this Saturday in Marysville and we will get his thoughts as he prepares for the outing. “The Professor” will also discuss what accomplishments in his career he considers to be the most special, who his favorite car owner was to drive for and more.
Croft will also be on the line to talk about his victory last season at the Marysville Raceway Park and give final thoughts on his 2011 campaign, which saw him finish sixth in points. Croft will also speak about becoming a father, how he got the nickname “Double Down and what got him into the powder coating business.
The “Kaeding Performance Flashback” this week will showcase the 1997 “Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial” in Chico, where Jimmy Sills came out on top of a highly entertaining battle with Brent Kaeding and Randy Tiner. Sills at the time was driving for car owner Dennis Johnson in the No. 14d sprint car.
With this year’s “Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial” fast approaching we’ll update our viewers on the status of lap money, the “Carwash Mike Fast Time Award” and everything else you need to know about the event on May 5. If anyone would like to purchase one of the remaining laps please contact Dave and Dianne Durica at Durica1414@sbcglobal.net or 916-988-5958.
During the show we’ll also take a look back at last year’s King of the West race in Marysville on the “Goodyear Highlight Reel” and preview this Saturday’s show at the quarter-mile bullring. In addition to that we’ll discuss the rescheduled date in Tulare that will now be the “Chris & Brian Faria Memorial Weekend” on Friday & Saturday May 11 & 12 at Thunderbowl Raceway.
