Rain Washes Out Outlaws Tune Up May 4, World Of Outlaws Invade Next Week

Mechanicsburg, PA – Williams Grove sprint car action fell victim to rain on Friday evening, May 4 following the completion of qualifying time trials for the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars.

Sam Hafertepe Jr., driver of the Zemco No. 1 sprint car, set fast time over a 34-car field in attendance before thunderstorms hit.

Hafertepe’s fast time was 17.027 seconds.

Following the completion of time trials, gathering thunderstorms to the north and west set in over the speedway, forcing cancellation of the remainder of the program.

The sprint cars were competing in a tune up for next week’s invasion by the World of Outlaws sprint cars.

The World of Outlaws will stage a two-day stand at Williams Grove Speedway next weekend, May 11 and 12 with action slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. both night.

The Williams Grove Saturday Series opener is slated for tomorrow night, May 5 at 6:30 p.m., featuring the super sportsman, 358 late models and street stocks.
