Sitting idle since the season kicked off due to lack of funding, Tiffin Ohio’s Paige Polyak made her season debut this past weekend as the FAST 305 season kicked off. Landing enough sponsorship for the 10 race FAST season, plus a handful of other events, the Polyak Motorsports season began Friday night at Attica Raceway Park. After fighting a loose car all heat race long, a 3rd place finish earned an A Main transfer position. Redrawing the 6th place starting spot in the A Main, Paige worked up to 4th by the half-way mark. Racing to within four car lengths of the lead pack a few laps later, Paige was charging forward. A slight miscue in turn 2, slipped Paige back to 8th. With just a few laps until the checkered flag flew, Paige had to settle in for an 8th place finish. Saturday the action switched to the Fremont Speedway. After drawing a 5th place starting spot in the heat, Paige quickly raced into a transfer spot. 3 laps later, going into turn 1, the front axle snapped as Paige kept the car under control, spinning to a stop. After a trashing by the crew to get the 27 entry back on track for the B, the B Main was cancelled, giving Paige the 22nd and final starting spot in the 25 lap A Main. As the green flag dropped, Paige’s right foot was on the throttle, charging past 8 cars in the first 6 laps. The next 4 laps seen 3 cautions as Paige raced past 2 more competitors. By the half way point, Paige entered the top 10, looking for more. With the last 15 laps clicking off without incident, Polyak made some daring moves, 3 wide passes, and raced into the 6th position as the checkered flag waved over the field. The charge from 22nd to 6th not only entertained the crowd, it earned Paige the hard charger award for the night. With 2 shows in the FAST season complete, Polyak sits 6th in the points standings.
