Many, LA — (June 23, 2012) — The Southern Thunder Sprints put on show last night as they battled wheel-to-wheel with zero cautions in the feature. Starting off with heat race action, #49 Ty Johnson took the win in Heat #1 and #28 David Forbis taking the checkers in Heat #2. The top two in each heat held a re-draw which put Forbis on the pole with #15 Tommy Johnson on his outside. In row two the #49 Ty Johnson had the inside with #8a Alan Myers to his outside. As the feature went green, Forbis pulled away and led several laps before the #49 of Ty Johnson battled and ultimately took the lead. As the laps began to click away the #15 Tommy Johnson and #80 of Hawkins were able to secure the 2nd and 3rd positions about halfway. Most of the field got a little strung out except for the top 4 who for the most part stayed close making the racing interesting during a caution-free feature. On the final lap Tommy Johnson tried a last ditch effort in turn three to take the lead from Ty Johnson but ended up spinning himself out. This allowed Hawkins and Forbis to finish 2nd and 3rd respectivley.
