Kick Off Dodge Days with Sprint Cars at DCRP!

DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 22, 2012) – A special Friday night auto racing card is on tap for the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval as the festive ten-day run of Dodge City Days gets under way this Friday.

The winged 305-ci Sprint Cars of the United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS) will take to the Dodge City Raceway Park oval for the first time this year, with the IMCA Modifieds racing for a boosted $1,000 winner’s share.

In addition to the URSS Sprint Cars and track headliner IMCA Modifieds, the track’s other championship divisions will be in action as well including the United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Poor Boy Kustomz Thunder Cars and Hornets.

Friday’s racing action will go green at 7:30 p.m.

Dodge City’s Brian Herbert is currently tied for the URSS Kansas Region points lead along with Jeff Radcliffe. Ray Seeman, Zach Blurton and Lance Davis fill out the current top five in points.

Reigning IMCA Modified track champion Brendon Gemmill moved back atop the point charts on the strength of his third DCRP win of the year in the most recent action on July 7. Gemmill holds a 10-point advantage over Cole Traugott, with Beau Davis, Kevin Gray and Casey Jo Wanger filling out the top five.

Bart Baker is atop points in a United Wireless IMCA Sport Modified class that has offered up five different winners in as many events, Perry Misner leads the way in the IMCA Stock Cars, Dan Rogers holds the top spot in the Poor Boy Kustomz Thunder Cars and Jarrett Lunow has moved into the Hornet lead.

Tickets to Friday’s event are just $15 for adults. Seniors and Military receive a $5 discount, with children 11 and under admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.

Dodge City Raceway Park presents 16 nights of racing over a dozen different weekends in 2012. In addition to the five regularly featured classes of competition, special events over the course of the year will include World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, USAC Midgets, USAC Sprint Cars, ASCS National Tour, NCRA Sprint Cars, URSS 305 Sprints and BST Modifieds.
