– Running with a wing is what Kyle Hirst is known for, but over the weekend the second-generation driver notched two wins with the USAC Western Classic Series as the series invaded the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday and the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

Driving the Dave Vertullo No.14P, Hirst showed his comfort level without the wing as he stopped the clocks with the fastest lap during time trials.

Starting seventh in his heat, the Sacramento, CA product worked the low side of the Silver Dollar Speedway to secure a fourth place finish and transfer to the feature event.

Starting in the seventh spot, KH continued to work the low line as he moved forward in a hurry with his sights set on Andy Forsberg.

On the tenth lap, Hirst disposed of Forsberg and went on to lead the final 20-laps of the event and picked up a very popular win.

Saturday night, the scene was the high-banked Placerville Speedway, where he has had much success in 2012, and once again the 24-year-old driver put on another exhibition without the wing.

Qualifying fourth fastest, Hirst proceeded to score a second place finish in his heat, to put his Starr Property Management/A.R.T./Swepco Oil in the second row for the 30-lap feature event

Chasing down early race leader, Matt Streeter, KH pounded the cushion on the ¼ mile bull ring and took advantage of a lap 11 mishap, and took over the lead, and went on to grab the win, and sweep the weekend.

“This was just a great weekend overall, “ Hirst said. “This car was awesome both nights, and Ken Pearson’s motor was very strong. I have to thank everyone who helps this car get out on a weekly basis.”

Kyle and his Vertullo Motorsports team would like to thank Starr Property Management, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, A.R.T. Chassis, CSI Shocks, and Swepco Oil for their continued support in 2012.

ON TAP: Hirst will now head north this weekend as he is set to pilot the Finley Farms No.77F on Friday in Yreka, CA and Saturday night at the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR.
