(Lebanon, IN) Travis Young takes the USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series point lead into the Saturday August 25th dirt race at US 24 Speedway in Logansport IN. With just three races left on the 2012 calendar, Young’s point lead is a slim 51 points over Dameron Taylor, the leading Simpson World Indy USS Rookie of the Year candidate. In USSA racing 51 points can be erased quickly when a driver has an off night. Taylor picked up 29 points in just one night’s racing in July.
Jessica Bean, the winner of the August 11th race at US 24 Speedway, sits in third spot in the standings and can pick up ground on both Young and Taylor by continuing a her strong showing on the dirt.
Scotty Simpson and Spencer Bayston will be the wild cards in the race. The two series newcomers bring dirt experience to the track. The two drivers finished 2nd and 4th on August 11th, earning valuable series points that third place finisher Young and Taylor, who finished in 5th place, would have liked to pick up.
The gates open at three, hot laps at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:15. US 24 Speedway is located on US 24 west of Logansport, IN.
