The November 17 USAC Mopar National Midget race at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring has been removed from the 2012 calendar. Track and USAC officials are working together in exploring options for a possible event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2013.

“We are very happy to hear that the Turkey Night Grand Prix has found a home for the 2012 racing season and are excited to see the best dirt midget racers in the country in action at Perris Auto Speedway,” said Chris Blair, Las Vegas Motor Speedway Vice President of Racing Operations. “Our original plan was to include the National Midget series as part of our scheduled asphalt event at the Bullring the weekend prior to Turkey Night to give racers more incentive to travel to the Southwest.

“With Turkey Night now being on dirt, the logistics for the teams to bring both a dirt and asphalt car to the area would be a challenge. We are looking forward to working with USAC to possibly bring a National Midget Dirt event to LVMS in 2013 when it can be properly scheduled and promoted as part of a Western Swing.”

Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s West Coast Asphalt Short Track Championships will continue as scheduled on the 3/8 mile asphalt oval on Saturday, November 17 and will feature the Spears SRL Southwest Tour, Modified Series, USAC Ignite Midget Series and Legends. The Hoosier Tire Late Model Series has been added in place of the National Midgets.
