Sixth in Return to Calistoga

From CDR

What was originally scheduled for late March and washed out during a portion of the 2012 season when Mother Nature was prevalent finally returned to center stage on Sunday at Calistoga Speedway. During the World of Outlaws visit to the big ½-mile last season ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ took the lead in the late stages of the main event and had the field covered only to be relegated to a runner-up finish after running out of fuel in the last corner of the last lap.

Set to go in the very scenic Napa Valley of California, 22 drivers signed in to the pit area. After posting the 12th fastest lap in qualifying, the Big Game Treestands Maxim started on the pole for heat #3 and motored out to a commanding lead to take the victory. In the 6-lap dash Dollansky would start in the final row and advance a few positions on a narrow racing surface crossing the finish line in 7th.

Starting from inside row four for the 25-lap A-Main Dollansky powered past a few cars when the green flag waved but a red flag before one lap was complete nullified the strong start. When racing resumed the MobileStar #7 ran sixth after lap 1 and held the same spot before the final stoppage just prior the halfway point on lap 12. With the field still battling a very narrow and fast track, passing was at a premium as the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter raced just outside the top-five in 6th before the checkered flag waved.

“We made forward progress after not getting qualified very well and having to start tenth in the dash,” commented the pilot of the #7 who holds 2nd in the championship standings 50 points out of first. “To get to sixth on a track that was hard to pass on wasn’t what we were looking for but it was a decent finish considered.”

The fifth straight night of action and final night on the West Coast for the Big Game Treestands #7 team concludes tonight at Antioch Speedway in Antioch, California.
