– Hoping to close out his sophomore season on the World of Outlaw tour in similar fashion that he closed out his rookie year, Cody Darrah’s season ended abruptly as he clipped a spun out Donny Schatz on Saturday night.

Taking part in the World of Outlaws culminating event, the World Finals, Cody Darrah as his SurePoint/Sage/Ti 22 team checked into the Dirt Track at Charlotte on Thursday to qualify for the Friday and Saturday night events.

Timing in 10th for the Friday night show, and 17th for the Saturday night show, Darrah and his team entered the racing nights of the event with high hopes of ending their season in style.

Starting in the second row of his heat race, Darrah got off to a slow start, and got shuffled back to the fifth spot. Chasing down Steve Kinser, CD4 was unable to make the pass for fourth, and missed the transfer spot by one position, putting his Team ASE/Curb/Roth Motorsports backed entry in the night’s LCQ.

Having some trouble in the LCQ, Darrah’s seventh place finish forced him to take a provisional for the feature event, and he would line up No.4 machine up in the 25th spot for the 30-lap feature event.

With the track in excellent shape, Darrah slowly worked through traffic, as he looked to keep his nose clean as he tried to get to the front.

When the checkered flag waived, the Red Lion, PA driver would take it in the 17th spot.

Starting on the front row of his Saturday night heat, Darrah would hang on to the second spot, and earn a trip into the nights Dash, as well as the automatic transfer into the 30-lap season-ending feature event.

Scoring a ninth place finish in the Dash, CD4 would roll off for the final night of action in the fifth row, alongside Lance Dewase.

On the ultra slick speedway, Darrah worked the high-side of the speedway to perfection as he slowly worked his way into the top-five by the halfway point.

While running in the fifth spot, Darrah got caught up with a spun-out Donny Schatz, as he clipped Schatz’ machine with his right rear, sending his car upside down, and ending his night.

Darrah would be scored with a 25th place finish.

“This team really got clicking towards the end of the year,” Darrah said. “We had a great car on Saturday night and my guys deserved to have a finish to close out the year. It happens, but I’m very excited to get out here with this group next year, and see what we can do.”

At season end, CD4 would finish 7th in World of Outlaw points, with 23 top-fives, 37 top-10’s, a three fast time awards.

ON TAP- Darrah and his KKR team will now regroup and look forward to the 2013 season.
