Perth, AU — (March 9, 2013) — Shane Stewart won The General 25 sprintcar feature race at the Perth Motorplex this evening, taking the 25-lap feature race from South Australian Luke Dillon and the WA-based Cameron Gessner.
The American started on the front row on the outside of Jason Kendrick and was never headed with much of the action going on behind him.
Youngster Callum Williamson, who was bravely running the high line, got by American Randy Hannagan on the finish line to take fourth with Hannagan fifth, Mark Wells sixth and were followed by Bradley Maiolo, Jamie Maiolo, Carl Dowling and Nathan Brady.
Ben Ellement, who started from position four, was out in the first lap when he crunched the wall at the start and slipped down to the infield, out of harm’s way.
Three laps in and Trent Pigdon spun out on the approach to the main straight, only to gather it up and then pull up further down the track, with officials sending him infield for the professional foul.
Eight laps in Sheldon Brady spun out in pits bend for the next restart and the major incident was 11 laps in when Allan Nash rode over the wheel of brother Lee on the back straight for a massive tumble.
Gessner slid into third on the restart and then took second moments later Jason Kendrick’s right rear suspension collapsed, with the next casualty being David Priolo when he hit the fence coming onto the main straight.
Hannagan and Jamie Maiolo were running the lower line while Williamson and Wells were running the higher line in a great duel a bit back a few spots with a handful of laps remaining.
Lee Nash went over in pits bend with three laps to go and Mick Goode did well to miss the upside down car.
